Which in Adman's SeaMonkey is at Edit -> Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings, select 'Server Settings' on your News Account and place a tick against "Always request Authentication ......".

Hey!! It is, too. Most sites give set-up type info for Firefox and others, but NOT SeaMonkey .... so well done, Ray, thank you.
